Victoria Insurance Group was founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1983, and primarily offered credit-related insurance products. In 1986, the company moved into the non-standard auto insurance market and expanded into several other states over the following years. Victoria Fire & Insurance is a part of the same group.
Victoria Automobile Insurance Company was acquired first by USF&G in 1995. When that company went out of business in 1998, all of its holdings were acquired by the St. Paul Companies.
Victoria was sold off to Prudential in 2000, and three years later was once again purchased by Nationwide Insurance. Although nearly every company purchased by Nationwide over the past decade has been re-branded to the Nationwide name, Victoria Insurance Group retained its name. However, its website is no longer operational. This includes the Victoria Insurance agent login portal.
There are five separate companies that makeup Victoria Insurance Group: Victoria Automobile Insurance, Victoria National Insurance, Victoria Specialty Insurance, Victoria Select, and Victoria Fire & Casualty Company, all Nationwide owned.

Victoria Insurance Car Insurance Coverages Offered
Victoria Insurance writes both personal and commercial auto insurance, although availability varies by state. The company website offers very limited information on the products. Victoria Insurance quotes are not available online.
Personal auto insurance from Victoria is aimed at the non-standard market, which means the company accepts drivers that are unable to obtain insurance elsewhere.
What is the difference between a standard and non-standard insurance company? This usually includes drivers with multiple tickets and accidents or serious violations, credit problems, international driver’s licenses, or other issues that can result in being denied coverage on the standard market. Nonstandard insurance from Victoria has much of the same coverage.
The following video shows just how much one ticket can affect your insurance. Non-standard market customers have usually accrued so many that standard insurers won’t accept them.
The website offers no details on the personal policy, stating only that it offers competitive rates and low down payments.
Although it likely offers full coverage car insurance policies, non-standard insurance companies frequently do a lot of business in bare-bones, liability only policies due to the high cost of coverage for high-risk drivers.
The following video further explains full coverage car insurance.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=7&v=PiYyLELU5l4&feature=emb_logo
Victoria Insurance also offers commercial auto insurance. Like the personal auto product, there is limited information available regarding the commercial auto policy. Commercial policies are only offered in 15 states.
Online quoting is not offered by Victoria Insurance, which is not at all surprising given the nature of the company’s business.
Rate quotes can only be obtained by calling a local agent. We would not expect to see rates from Victoria that are in any way competitive with standard insurance companies. Victoria’s premiums should only be compared with other non-standard insurance companies.
What are Victoria Insurance’s bundling options?
As of this writing, Victoria Insurance does not have information regarding bundling options. Should you choose to contact the company to speak with an agent about setting up a policy, it would stand to reason that Victoria would discuss bundling with you.
What discounts are offered by Victoria Insurance?
Many insurers offer discounts for personal aspects of a customer such as their loyalty, age, environmental friendliness, accident avoidance, etc. While Victoria Insurance does not list any specific discounts, we can look at a table showing available discounts provided by many other insurers.

Victoria Insurance: Car Insurance Ratings
At the time of this review, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) page for Victoria Insurance showed that the company was not rated and not accredited. The page states that the BBB does not have enough information to provide a rating.
Victoria’s parent company is Nationwide, which means that complaints may well be appearing on the parent company BBB record as opposed to on the company’s own page.
That was the case the last time we provided a review of this company, at which time the BBB did not appear to operate a separate page for Victoria; that no longer appears to be the case in the most recent update to the BBB site.
Victoria does not really use the Nationwide name anywhere on the site, so it seems somewhat unlikely that policyholders would be filing complaints under that name.
There are a few scattered reviews of car insurance reviews of Victoria out there, but not a whole lot of useful information. Of the two negative reviews on Google, one cites rate increases and the other offers no explanation for the low rating.
The two complaints on Pissed Consumer are similarly unhelpful, with one of the two showing that the policyholder did not realize her use of a false address for her car insurance would result in her claim being denied — certainly not something that reflects on Victoria.
Overall, we found very little in the way of useful information in regard to this company’s reputation. Your one-stop online insurance guide. Get free quotes now! Secured with SHA-256 Encryption
Victoria Auto Insurance: The Bottom Line
If you are in need of non-standard car insurance coverage, Victoria may be worth a look. Their backing by Nationwide gives them financial stability, and we found no red flags in terms of their reputation. With little to go on it is difficult to create any sort of real opinion of this company, but since non-standard choices are limited, it may be a good choice.
